Look In

Well it has been a while. This weekend I took my sketch book out for a day trip and and turned out a quick one. Turns out my sketchbook is cartridge paper rather than watercolour paper, but the results where still quite good. Enjoy.

Well it’s been a while. Over the year I’ve painted exactly three paintings. Two of which I haven’t posted, but here is my third. It’s a commission for someone at work. It might be the start of some more painting, not sure yet…

Week Fifty Two – NJMoore

And so, a full year has passed. I’ve decided to finish this run with a self portrait. Fifty two paintings in one year. There weren’t many times when I thought I wouldn’t finish, but what has surprised me is that 365 days have passed. I still have an armful of potential subject matter to paint!

Some statistics, in the past year:

  • Exactly one person posted two non spam comments on the website (my daughter).
  • I received over 2,300 spam posts in the year.
  • The most popular spam picture Week Four – Shanty, with a close second to Week Thirty – Lok’tar
  • No-one clicked on the Buy Me A Beer button, therefore no-one bought me a beer (my wife did but only after I told her).
  • My favourite picture was Week Judge Dredd right up to last week, when Week 51 Fear The People took it’s spot.
  • My least favourites are Week Twenty Six – It’s a Well and Week Five – Beach Cove. They are both bland.
  • From my friends, most people have different favourites, but nearly everyone really like Week Three – Snow, which is kind of amazing as it’s only painted in two colours and black.

So what’s next. I’m going to continue to paint, but not on this scale. I’m going to get as many of these paintings available as prints that people can purchase, will post details when that happens. And I think I’m going to learn the piano.

Week Fifty One – Fear the People

“People shouldn’t be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people”.

I was highly entertained* the media a few week ago, when it indicated how our Government and the American Government condemned the Ukrainian Governments treatment of their people, currently protesting about political corruption, vote rigging and political imprisonments. In particular they were quite irate about the methods, where the Ukrainian Government deployed the Police to "Kettle the trouble makers" and use "Crowd controlling and crowd dispersing" mechanism to remove the unwanted peons from the streets so "normal businesses can go about their fat cat making money business".
*Miffed off with

Seriously, do MP"s even consider WTF comes out of their mouths, when only this year OUR government deployed our heavy handed Police force to "Kettle" our countries demonstrating population and "Crowd Disperse" them from the streets of London. Never mind the 2011 Wall Street "Fiddlers" protests where they smashed thier way though protest camps.

Sparks a fury in me, that lead to this weeks picture, V from "V for Vendetta". In a particularly dramatic, "I"m coming to settle the score, you thieving, lying barstools" pose. Gunpowder, treason and plot. I like the way, at least in my mind, is that Guy Fawkes has changed from “the bad dude who our Governments defeated, huzzah!” to “the bad dude that Governments should never forget, when they lie, cheat and steal, they forge”.

Week Forty Eight – Dr Who – All Timey Wimey

Bow na now bow na now bow na now, whoo oooo ooohhhhh. Dr Who. After a mispent youth, hiding behind the sofa, I still love Dr Who. In honour if it’s 50th birthday, an experiment in speed painting and in the style I hinted at in a past painting… I present to you Dr Who – All Timey Wimey. (Yes, the paint has supposed to run. Yes, those colours are bizzare.)
